Purchasing Officer

Our client is a well-established company operating in the maritime transportation sector, based in Limassol, Cyprus.

They are looking for a Purchasing Officer to join their purchasing team and support their fleet’s supply needs around the world on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for arranging the timely delivery of supplies to vessels, ordering, monitoring supplier performance and controlling invoices.

• Arrange the timely and cost-effective delivery of stores and spares
• Arrange the dispatch of supplies to vessels
• Ensure goods have been delivered on board
• Check outstanding orders and enquiry files on a regular basis
• Handle and coordinate special purchases
• Monitor the performance of regular suppliers
• Handle monthly accruals
• Provide temporary cover for other Purchasing Officers within the same fleet in case of absence
• Attend Technical or Purchasing Department meetings

• Degree in Shipping, Maritime or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar roles; experience in ship management or ship owning companies is a must
• Ability to work independently and on own initiative, or as an effective member of a team
• Excellent command of English and Greek
• Excellent command of the MS Office suite
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic knowledge of procurement procedures and purchasing standards
